David E. Gerdes, 75, of Tampico, died Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, IA. He was an auto salesman at Bollman Motors in Rock Falls.
Born September 3, 1937 in Milledgeville, he was a son of Edward and Irene (Meyer) Gerdes. He married Signe Nelson on July 12, 1997 in Thomson.
Surviving are his wife, Signe, of Tampico; his daughters, Karen Gerdes of Savanna and Patty Gerdes of Georgia; his sons, Allen (Peggy) Gerdes of Lebanon, Missouri and Steve (Rita) Gerdes of Morrison; his step-sons, Ron Poston, Jeff Poston and John Poston; his sister Sherald of Texas; his brothers, Paul and Gary Gerdes both of Texas; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. His parents and a son Roger Gerdes preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 9-11 AM Monday followed by the funeral at 11 AM in McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls with Reverend Kathy Burkheimer, pastor of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Milledgeville, officiating. Burial will be at South Elkhorn Cemetery, rural Milledgeville. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory.
