ROCK FALLS – Zelda J. King, 84 of Rock Falls died peacefully Wednesday February 22, 2017 at her winter home in Ellenton, FL.
She was born on June 4, 1932 in Paw Paw, Illinois the daughter of Lawrence Sylvester and Merle Gertrude (Warren) McCord. She married James L. King Sr on June 17, 1950 in Rock Falls. He died on February 10, 2011. Zelda had worked for many years, alongside her husband in their family business, Sauk Valley Equipment Co in Rock Falls before her retirement. She was a member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Rock Falls. Zelda had enjoyed bowling, golfing, boating and playing pinnacle with the card group for many years.
Surviving are her children Sherryl Wagner, Shelly (Arlyn) Norman, James "Butch" (Chris) King, Lorri (Jeff) Nagy, Larry King; one sister Ruby Arvetta "Micki" Knowles; 15 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son-in-law David Wagner; her great grand daughter Samantha Yeoward; son-in-law, Michael Yeoward.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday March 1, 2017 from 5-7 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue in Rock Falls. Funeral services will follow on Thursday at 10 AM at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Rock Falls with the Reverend Vicki Sauter officiating. Burial will be at Coloma Twp Cemetery.
