William "Bill" A. Snyder, age 88, of Garden Plain, died Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Bill was born August 27, 1928 in Albany, IL, the son of Dean and Marie (Settle) Snyder. He married Joyce Nelson on February 22, 1948 in Morrison, IL. He farmed in the Garden Plain area for 68 years. Bill enjoyed reading newspapers and magazines to keep up on the world news.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Garden Plain, IL; one daughter, Diane Snyder of Taylor Ridge, IL; two sons, Rick (Sylvia) Snyder of Fulton, IL and Randy (Amelia) Snyder of Albany, IL; one sister, Faye Jamieson of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren, Sarah Turner, Angie Jones, Kira Clements, Scott Snyder and Curtis Snyder; nine great grandchildren, Katarina, Paige, Rane, Kloee, Prestin, Amelia, Seth, Aliza and Arika.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dayle Snyder; one sister, Marge Koch; five brothers, Dean Snyder, Marvin Snyder, Chuck Snyder, Byron Snyder and Larry Snyder.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 5 – 7 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1601 16th Avenue, Fulton. Funeral services will be Friday, June 23, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home with Bob Douglas officiating. Burial will be at Garden Plain Cemetery in Fulton.

A memorial has been established to the American Heart Association.
