PROPHETSTOWN – C. Wayne Snyder, age 78, died Wednesday, September 06, 2017 at Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison.
Wayne was born on September 15, 1938 in Moline, the son of Ward Elias and Mary Aretta (McAfee) Snyder. He served his country in the United States Marine Corp. Wayne married Betty Tinkler-Gallentine on February 14, 1990 in Rock Falls. He was employed as a Journeyman Mechanic for 28 years with John Deere Harvester in Moline, retiring in January of 1998. Wayne also owned and operated Snyder Trucking and was co-owner of Snyder Log Homes in Prophetstown. He was an avid Pilot, enjoyed reading and loved working word search puzzles. Wayne was a Ham Radio Operator and member of Harvest Time Bible Church, Rock Falls.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Gallentine-Snyder of Prophetstown; four daughters, Susan (Garry) Cokel of Monmouth, Maryanne (Steve) Bjork of Sycamore, Carrie (Eric) Echols of Chicago and Amanda Snyder of Oakland, CA; two sons, Terry (Penny) Gallentine of Rock Falls and Lonny Gallentine of Torrance, CA; one sister, Lovenia (Dick) Neyrinck of Port Byron; one brother, Richard (Linda) Snyder of Colfax, IA; one sister-in-law, Lillian Snyder of Erie; one brother-in-law, Ron Anderson of Rapid City; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Virginia Anderson; and one brother, Kenneth Snyder.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 10-11:00 AM at Harvest Time Bible Church, Rock Falls. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM at the church with Pastor Jason Borton officiating. Military rites will follow outside the church and cremation rites will be accorded. Arrangements were completed by the McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
