Virginia JoAnne Erikson passed away on March 19, 2013 at Sterling Pavilion, with her loved ones by her side.

Virginia was born on January 11, 1924 in Peoria to Raymond and Emma Davidson. She was the beloved wife of Orval Erikson. They farmed in Princeville and later moved to Prophetstown, continuing their farming. After Orval's death in 1973, Virginia moved to Peoria, Illinois and worked at Rohn Manufacturing in the business department. She later moved to Mesa, Arizona and embraced an active retirement. Virginia moved back to Illinois in 2008. She is fondly remembered for her zest for life and her love for her family.

She is survived by their four children; Craig (Terri) Erikson of Benton Harbor, Michigan, Chris (Janis) Erikson of Sterling, Cindy (Bob) Sutton of Atlanta, Illinois, and Candy Munck of Show Low, Arizona. Also surviving, are her nine grandchildren, Scott (Kelley) Erikson, Jason (Julie) Erikson, Tina (Scott) Anderson, Tara (Erik) Semenchuk, Trisha (Brad) Clemens, Tiffany (Zach) Hartzold, Chad (Sasha) Sutton, and Shawn Munck. Further surviving are her ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Orval C. Erikson, one sister, Shirley (George) Byard, and her brother, Raymond (Catherine) Davidson, Jr.

Visistation will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at the McDonald Funeral Home in Prophetstown. Funeral service to follow at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Reverend Andy Ploenzke officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown. Everyone is welcome after the burial to join the family in fellowship at the Chris Erikson residence at 3302 15th Avenue in Sterling.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
