Virginia JoAnne Erikson passed away at Sterling Pavilion on March 19, 2013, with loved ones by her side.

Virginia was born on January 11, 1924, in Peoria, IL, to Raymond and Emma Davison. She was the beloved wife of Orval Erikson. They farmed in Princeville and later moved to Prophetstown, continuing their farming. After Orval's death in 1973, Virginia moved to Peoria, IL and worked at Rohn Manufacturing in the Business Department. She later moved to Mesa, AZ and embraced an active retirement. Virginia moved back to Illinois in 2008. Virginia is fondly remembered for her zest for life and her love for her family.

She is survived by their four children; Craig (Terri) Erikson of Benton Marbor, MI, Chris (Janis) Erikson of Sterling, IL, Cindy (Bob) Sutton of Atlanta, IL, and Candy Munck of Show Low, AZ. Also surviving are her nine grandchildren: Scott (Kelley) Erikson, Jason (Julie) Erikson, John (Chelsea) Erikson, Tina (Scott) Anderson, Tara (Erik) Semenchuk, Trisha (Brad) Clemens, Tiffany (Zach) Hartzold, Chad (Sasha) Sutton and Shawn Munck. Further surviving are her ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orval C. Erikson; a sister, Shirley (George) Byard; and her brother, Raymond (Catherine) Davidson, Jr.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 10, 2013, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at the McDonald Funeral Home in Prophetstown, IL. The funeral will be at 11:00 AM, also at the McDonald Funeral Home, Prophetstown, IL, with Reverend Andy Ploenzke officiating. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown, IL.

Fellowship will follow after the burial at the Chris Erikson residence at 3302 15th Avenue, Sterling, IL.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
