Vera Lucille (Maxwell) Kunde, 91, of Sterling, died February 27, 2017 at The Sterling Pavilion.
Lucille was born on February 16th, 1926 in Whiteside County, Illinois, the daughter of Owen McKinley Maxwell and Milly Jane (Sampson) Maxwell. She married Robert Edward Kunde on August 31, 1947 in Coleta, Illinois.
She worked at CGH for two years, Green Giant canning factory for three years and General Electric of Morrison for twenty seven years retiring in 1987. She was a member of Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sterling where she taught Sunday school for several years and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed working in her garden, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter Carolyn (Sue) Wasmund, of Coleta IL, one son James (Betty) Kunde of Sterling IL, sister in laws Evelyn Maxwell, Lorain, Barbara, Beatrice and Bonnie Kunde, one brother in law, William Kunde, four grandchildren, Suzanne Syverson, John Wasmund, Christopher Kunde, Courtney Coleman, three step grandchildren, Jason Weidman, Lucas Weidman, Amanda Ludwa, six great grandchildren Brennan, Colin, Madelyn Syverson, Sebastian Kunde, Charlotte and Trevor Coleman, six step great grandchildren, William, Tristian, Jayden, Mikayla, Vivian and Evelyn Weidmen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Kunde, two sisters Irene Burguss, Thelma Squires, brother, Robert Maxwell, and son in law John Wasmund, sister in law, Dolores Glenn, six brother in laws, Lester Burguss, Jim Squires, James Glenn, Lester, Raymond and Richard Kunde.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday March 3, 2017 at Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sterling, with Rev. Kirk Neugebauer officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. A luncheon will be served at the church following interment.
A memorial has been established.
