Vada B. (Fields) Lansford of Rock Falls died peacefully Friday April 20, 2018 at CGH Medical Center.

Vada was born on June 24, 1927 in Sterling the daughter of George W and Hazel E. (Eichelberger) Fields. She attended Sterling schools and graduated from Rock Falls High School. On December 7, 1946 she married Leslie E. "Pete" Lansford. He died December 8, 1980. She worked for several stores including the former Woolworth, Gillette Electric, MarJean Variety store and Family Shoe store. She was a member of the Rock Falls Evangelical Congregational Church. She enjoyed writing to pen-pals from several countries and to members of the Hi Flier 27 Club (a group of ladies born in 1927). She was also a member of the Nu Club and Fairview Social Club. She was an avid Elvis fan and enjoyed following the Royal family.

Survivors include her children, Judy (Salvador) Velazquez of Sterling, Vaden (Kathy) Lansford of Rock Falls and Chris (Erin) Lansford of Lyndon; grandchildren: Monica (Stephen) Fisher, Angela Velazquez (Esequiel Trujillo) and Adrian Velazquez both of Sterling, Nathan Lansford of Rock Falls, Tanya Lansford of Lyndon, Shane (Jessi) Lansford of Monroe City and Janet Lansford of Sioux City, IA; two great grandchildren: Kendrick Fisher and Oliver Lansford; her sister-in-law Irma Bertolozzi.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her step fathers: Harry Onken and Andrew Thinnes.

The family would like to acknowledge her dear friend Heather Dingley for her many years of loving care for Vada. You were truly a blessing to us all.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 25, 2018 from 5-7 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue in Rock Falls. The funeral will follow on Thursday at 11 AM at the funeral home with the Reverend Dennis Buss officiating. Burial will conclude at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling. A luncheon will fill take place at the Sterling American Legion following the burial.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory to the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago (formerly Children's Memorial Hospital.)
