Tom Cheshier, 67 of Coleta, died Monday June 17, 2019 at his home following a brief illness.

He was born on August 18, 1951 in Sterling the son of Jack R. and Barbara J. (Craig) Cheshier. Tom attended Rock Falls and Sterling Schools. He served in the Illinois Army National Guard. He married Marcia (Conkling) Searing on November 14, 1987 in Coleta. He began his working career at the former Chapman Brothers in Sterling as a welder and later as a foreman. He then went to work as the assistant manager of the Octopus Car Wash in Sterling later purchasing the business and running it for over 40 years. Tom enjoyed creating lawn art through welding.

Survivors include his wife, Marcia; daughter Melissa (Jason Owens) Searing of Norfolk, VA; son, Zachary Cheshier of Sterling; his brothers: Wes Cheshier and Andy Cheshier both of Arkansas, Scott Cheshier of Coleta and Clint (Angie) Knox of Sterling.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of Tom's life for family and friends will take place this summer. Cremation has taken place. Memorials to Cancer Research.
