Thomas M. Rogiewicz
Thomas M. Rogiewicz, age 73, of Prophetstown, died Saturday, August 15, 2015 at his home.
Tom was born July 16, 1942 in Chicago the son of Henry and Emily (Swiniarski) Rogiewicz. He married Marsha Goble on November 24, 1979 in Chicago. Tom graduated from St. Rita High School in Chicago and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from SIU. He was band director and football coach at Prophetstown High School for 30 years. He was a member of the Rockford Symphony Orchestra for 35 years. He was also a member of Class Act 2 in Amboy, Main Avenue Jazz in Clinton, Kix in Davenport, Sterling Municipal Band and the Sauk Valley Band. Tom was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Prophetstown and was an avid gardener.
Survivors include his wife, Marsha of Prophetstown; his son, Jeff (Shannon) Boardman of Rock Falls; and three grandchildren, Jayce, Ryleigh and Koltyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from 4 – 7 PM at the First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown. Memorial services will be Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the church with Pastor Katie Gallegher and Pastor Rosario Lombardo co-officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown.
A memorial has been established for the Prophetstown High School Band Student Scholarship.
