Thomas J. Hand
Thomas J. Hand, age 91, of Clinton, IA died Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton.
Thomas was born August 25, 1925 in Thomson, IL the son of Thomas and Helen (Sheridan) Hand. He served in the US Army and later married Margaret Enwright on December 31, 1949 in Fulton, IL. She preceded him in death in January of 1984. He married Barbara Vogel on March 15, 1989 in Fulton, IL. She preceded him in death on January 28, 2013. Thomas was employed at Northwestern Steel and Wire in Sterling for 33 years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulton, Knights of Columbus, the Fulton American Legion Post 402 and the Clinton Eagles Club. He was also a 70 year member of the Clinton Moose Lodge and a charter member of the Fulton VFW.
Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Hand of Prescott Valley, AZ; two sons, Mike (Karen) Hand of Albany, IL and James Hand of Fulton, IL; one sister, Rosalie Bellich of Clinton, IA; four grandchildren, Nick Hand, Katie Hand, Thomas Hand and Roane Hand; one great granddaughter, Madalynn Hansen; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both of his wives; his parents; one daughter, Jean Hand; and one daughter-in-law, Maila Tollstam.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 4 – 7:00 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1601 16th Avenue in Fulton with the rosary being recited at 3:30 PM. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulton with Reverend Matthew Camaioni officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Calvary Hill Cemetery in Fulton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for Masses and the Sarah Harding home.
