Thelma "Carol" Shearer, age 72 of Rock Falls, died Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling.

Carol was born on December 9, 1946 in Sterling, the daughter of Orin Dean "Mac" and Bette Lorene (Glenn) McIlvenna. She worked at United States Steel- Gary Works in Gary, IN for 13 years and then at Self Help Enterprises as a supervisor for 21 years, retiring on July 20, 2012. Carol enjoyed reading and doing puzzles.

Survivors include her son, Dave (Sarah) Shearer of Rock Falls; two granddaughters, Sydney and Megan Shearer; one sister, Lori (Bob) Campos of Rock Falls; two brothers, Leo (Barb) McIlvenna of Valparaiso, IN and Randy (Lillianna) McIlvenna of Valparaiso, IN; one sister-in-law, Clara McIlvenna of Hobart, IN; three nieces, Jennifer, Kristine and Becky and one nephew, Jason.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Charles McIlvenna; and one nephew, Tim McIlvenna.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019 from 11 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling.
