STERLING – Steve K. Sucher, age 73, died at his home on Tuesday, January 31, 2017.
Steve was born on April 3, 1943 in Rock Falls the son of Harold and Marion (Ferris) Sucher. He married Peggy Beggerow in Sterling on March 14, 1964. Steve was a meat cutter for Kroger in Sterling for 10 years, then was the meat manager at Kroger in Dixon for 10 years and then went to the former Rheelings as the meat manager. He enjoyed reading cook books and trying new recipes, making homemade sausage, living in the country, gardening, fishing, boating, river cruising, and being around his family. Steve was an avid Bears fan, was a great handy-man around the house and was a very proud father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy of Sterling; one daughter, Michelle (Kurt) Schultz of Iowa City, Iowa; two sons, Andy (Angie) Sucher of Milledgeville and Eric Sucher of Clarksville, Tenn.; twelve grandchildren, Jacob Schultz of Iowa City, Erin (John) Sucher of Sterling, Paige (Garrett) Sucher of N.J., Savannah (Bobby) Thomas of Clarksville, Tenn., Erica (Alex) Rodriguez of Clarksville, Tenn., Eric, Jr. (Cynthia) Sucher of Clarksville, Danielle (Brad) Bream of Oxford, Iowa, Samantha (Derek) Anderson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Alex (Jordan) Sucher of Woosung, AJ Sucher of Milledgeville, Austin (Michelle) Sucher of Chariton, Iowa and Allison Sucher of Milledgeville; and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Delores Noble; and one granddaughter, Ashley Sucher.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM Monday, February 6, 2017 at the McDonald Funeral Home in Sterling. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Reverend Rick Koch of The Church of the Brethren in Milledgeville officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
