STERLING – Sherman L. Shilling, age 73, died Friday, February 11, 2022 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.
Sherman was born on April 2, 1948 in Sterling the son of Lloyd and Carrie (Engelkens) Shilling. He married Loretta Chapman on March 1, 1993 in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Sherman was employed as an Electrician with Northwestern Steel & Wire Company in Sterling for 30 years retiring in 1997. He served his country in the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his wife Loretta Shilling of Sterling; one step-daughter, Amy (Dave) Dougherty of Mooresville, N.C.; one sister, Carolyn Hoffman of Johnson City, Tenn.; several cousins; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation rites have been accorded. At his request there are no services. Arrangements were completed by the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls.
