Roger D. Linboom, age 79, beloved husband of Carol J. Linboom (Biester), died at CGH Medical Center surrounded by family on March 19, 2022. Roger was born on August 8, 1942 to Leslie Andrew and Nora (Thompson) Linboom in Sterling, IL. Roger and his siblings, spent their youth in Rock Falls where he was a multi-sport athlete and graduate of Rock Falls High School. He enlisted with the Air Force and was a member of the Sterling American Legion, Post 296. He later built many lasting friendships and relationships through his work at Crescent Electric in Sterling, Koym Electric in Freeport, and Bay Valley Foods in Dixon.
Roger met the love of his life, Carol J. Biester, in Amboy in 1973 and later that year were married. Roger spent his life teaching his children and grandchildren the importance of laughter, love, and family, supporting many a sporting event or musical performance and with a hearty laugh always had a wry joke to impart. Roger, was a faithful and active member of the Episcopal Church, and was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Dixon where he proudly dedicated his service as both Sexton and Jr. Warden.
He is survived by his wife, Carol J. Linboom of Dixon; three children, Julie (Dan Wrage) Tabor Bass of Sterling, Heather (Bryan) Trotter of Milledgeville, and the Very Rev. Bradley A. (Christina) Linboom of Clarendon Hills; two brothers, Robert L. (Barb) Linboom of Sterling, and twin Ronald G. (Carol A.) Linboom of Grand Detour; one sister-in-law, Wilma Haverland of Rock Falls; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William "Bill" Haverland and Leslie Allen Linboom; one sister Constance Lorraine Linboom; and one nephew, Christopher Linboom.
A memorial service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Dixon on Thursday, March 31st at 1:00 PM with a reception to follow. He will be interred at Coloma Township Cemetery in a private service later that day. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Dixon.
