Robert S. Nichols
Robert S. Nichols, age 82, of Dixon, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 22, 2018.
Robert was born July 17, 1935 in Oswego the son of Stanley and Elsie (Bryant) Nichols. He served in the US Air Force and was later employed at Fermilab in Batavia. Robert married Mary Lou Jacobs on July 14, 1956 in Aurora. He was a talented repairman who could fix anything and also had a great love of cars and for his cat, Calypso.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mary Lou Nichols of Dixon; four daughters, Cindy (Tom) Galbreath of Oswego, Pam (Rick) Wittman of Riverview, Fla., Wanda (Ed) Franks of Oswego and Susan Kelley of Dixon; two sons, Rob (Patsy) Nichols of Hinckley and Ronald (Ann) Nichols of Sheridan; three sisters, Liz Clark of Hallsville, Mo., Mary (Jerrel) Burner of Columbia, Mo. and Rose Johnson of Largo, Fla.; 13 grandchildren, Matt, Alex, Keith, Laura, Carl, Kevin, Nichole, Brock, Amy, Colin, Hunter, Chance and Ashley; and 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 10:30 AM – 11:45AM at Northside Baptist Church, 598 River Lane, Dixon. Funeral services with military honors will be Saturday at noon at the church with Pastor Dan Bentz officiating.
A memorial has been established.
