STERLING- Robert D. Edison, 85, of Sterling, died Friday, February 24, 2012 at his home. He was one of the first employees at Sauk Valley Community College.

After 26 years of service he retired in 1992 as the Vice President of Business Services.

Mr. Edison was born October 15, 1926 in West Frankfort the son of James Madison and Lennie (Honnaker) Edison. He was united in marriage to Amelia Lang on

June 21, 1952 in Chicago. She preceded him in death in 1987.


He was a veteran of the US Army serving during WW II. Mr. Edison was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sterling where he worked at the church

dinners and was a counter for 20 years. He was a member of the Rotary Club for over 20 years and the Illinois Association of School Business Officials. Bob

was also the founder of the Sauk Valley Community College Retiree's Group.

Survivors include his daughters Betty Edison of Mason City, Janice (Dave) Edison-Neudek of Mt.Horeb, Wisc., and Amy Blass of Normal; his sons Robert (Judy)

Edison of Sterling and James (Mary) Edison of Springfield; a sister Nellie Cimino of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother Chester Edison of Winfield; a brother-in-law

Pete Golio of West Frankfort; and a sister-in-law Agnes Edison of Aurora; 7 grandchildren: Kristina, Jeremy and Nate Edison, Anna Neudek, Joshua Edison,

Steven and Danny Blass and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 4 brothers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM Thursday, March 1, 2012 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sterling with Reverend Bruce Ludeke, Celebrant,

officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home, Sterling. In lieu of flowers
