Robert "Bob" C. Olson, 80 of Sterling died, Thursday, February 10, 2022 at his home.
He was born on October 11, 1941 in Morris, IL the son of Carl and Lucille (Sorensen) Olson. Bob married Marjorie (McKelvey) on September 1, 1962 in Rolla, MO. He had been employed by Northwestern Steel & Wire where he was a Metallurgical Engineer for 31 years before retiring in 1999. Following his retirement he was employed as a Metallurgical Engineer for the Quad City Metallurgical Laboratory Inc. of Davenport. Bob and his wife Marge were the founders of the T-shirt league through the Sterling Duis Recreation Center. He spent many years coaching little league baseball and junior tackle. Bob was also a coach for the Babe Ruth baseball league in Sterling. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in their extracurricular activities. Bob will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Robert (Karin) Olson II of North Liberty, IA, David (Laura) Olson of Freeport, Matthew (Nancy) Olson of Sterling, Zachary (Jennifer) Olson of Sterling; 12 grandchildren; three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Shirley Button; one grandson, Robert (Bo) Olson III.

Cremation rites were accorded. There will be no services.
