Rickie H. Preston, 71 died Friday July 9, 2021.

Rick was born on October 3, 1949 in Bono, AR the son of Hugh and Mary (Hendrix) Preston. He married the former Mary Jayne Thompson and she preceded him in death. Rick had worked for several years at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co and later was the owner/operator of the Wagon Wheel Restaurant in Sterling. Rick was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was well known in the area at auctions and sales. He played guitar and sang from an early age into adulthood. He cherished his family and grandchildren.

Surviving are his children: Shelby (Lori) Preston, Becky (Brad) Schrader, Jody (Dawn) Preston, Mardy Preston and Ruth "Doofer" (Scott) Cowley; his girlfriend Melissa Zamora and her children: Easton and Ezra; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters: Patricia West, Ruth Mae Estes and Evajean Williams.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 14, 2021 from 4-8 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue in Rock Falls. The funeral will follow on Thursday at 10 AM at the funeral home with the Reverend Les Funderberg officiating. Burial will conclude at Oak Knoll Memorial Park.
