Richard "Dick" L. Meyer, age 69 of Dixon died Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL after a long-term illness.

Dick was born November 19, 1944 in Marinette, WI the son of Arthur Walter and Elfie Pearl (Johnson) Meyer. He married Linda Jacobs on March 22, 1968 in Sterling. Dick worked for 42 ½ years at Dixon Direct as a Customer Service Representative, retiring in 2010. He served in the US Army Reserves for 10 years. Dick enjoyed taking lots of pictures, working with computers and gadgets, pretty much anything his two sons were interested in. He was an avid radio listener, lighthouse and ballpoint pen collector. Most of all Dick loved spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Linda of Dixon, two sons Shelby (Debra) Meyer of Sterling, and Kent (Brenda) Meyer of Blue Grass, IA, six grandchildren Cody, Casey (Lynn), Angel, Clayton, Joshua, and Andrea, and one great granddaughter Sadie.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Doris.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at McDonald Funeral Home in Sterling, 505 1st Avenue. Funeral service will be 11:30 A.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Dalmus Meeks officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
