Raymond Muntean, age 73, of Mt. Carroll, died Sunday, August 26, 2018 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Raymond was born December 4, 1944 in Sterling the son of John and Edna (Eden) Muntean. He married Diana Spencer on June 11, 1965 in Rock Falls. Raymond was employed with the Labor Union Local 727 for 50 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and tractors.

Survivors include his wife, Diana of Mt. Carroll; one daughter, Kim (Rodney) Haan of Clinton, Iowa; one son, Jason Muntean of Mt. Carroll; three sisters, Elda Wangelin of Ixonia, Wis., Shirley (John) Buntjer of Lyndon and Marjorie Allen of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; three brothers, Harold Muntean of Sterling, Lyle Muntean of Rock Falls and one not of the area; one granddaughter, Yvonne (Bubba Griffin) Haan; three great grandchildren, Phoenix, Purity and Ellie; one special nephew, Benjamin Winstead; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters-in-law, Joyce and Carrie; and two brothers-in-law, Greg and Eugene.

A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 10 – 10:45 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sterling. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at the church with Reverend Brandon Nelson officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
