Prophetstown - Owen Wayne Vetter, age 87 of Prophetstown, died Sunday May 20, 2012 at Friendship Manor in Rock Island.

Owen was born March 16, 1925 in Hoopole, the son of Roland and Mabel (Hilger) Vetter. He married Linda Wade-Lewey on July 16, 1983 in Prairieville, IL. He was a member of Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls. Owen enjoyed music, he loved playing gospel songs on his saxophone. He played in many bands in the area for many years, and also enjoyed playing in many different churches and nursing homes. Owen enjoyed going to church and worshiping with his wife Linda and many friends. He also enjoyed ice skating and was a barrel jumping champion. Owen was a life-long hog farmer in the Prophetstown area.

Surviving is his wife, Linda of Prophetstown; one son, Michael (Dana) Vetter of Muncie, IN; two daughters, Julie (Ray) Standerwick of Decatur, and Kathy (Reverend Darrell) Pack of Kewanee; one step-son, Scott (Andie) Lewey of Kingston, IL; one step-daughter, Cheri Uhler of Prophetstown; seven grandchildren, Mark Vetter, John (Katy) Vetter, Robert (Brandi) Vetter, Elizabeth Standerwick, Matthew Standerwick, Chapin (Brittany) Pack, and Hannah Pack; three step-grandchildren, Kimberly Uhler, Megan (Martel) Walls, and Jenna Lewey; three great grandchildren, Anna Grace, Autumn Rose, and Brailey Ann; one step-great grandchild, Martel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Betty Jane.

Visitation will be from 6-8PM, Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Funeral service will be held at Harvest Time Bible Church on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 11AM with Pastor Dalmus Meeks officiating. Burial will be in Hooppole Cemetery.
