Orville D. Ohlwine, age 87, of Milledgeville died Friday, September 20, 2013 in Dixon after a long-term illness.

Orville was born January 24, 1926 in Polo, the son of Oliver and Elizabeth (Barnes) Ohlwine. He joined the US Army in 1951 and transferred to the Reserves in 1953. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Orville married Corrine Edna Swanson on October 27, 1957 in Sterling. He was a member of the Milledgeville American Legion and a life-long member of the Lutheran Church. Orville farmed until 1976 and also worked for Kraft Foods for 20 years after retiring he was employed by the community fertilizer company. Orville enjoyed and will be remembered for his love of gospel music, family, farming, and the outdoors.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years Corrine Ohlwine of Milledgeville, two daughters Florence (Brian) Miller of Leland, IL, and Violet Ohlwine of Milledgeville, one son Arthur (Margaret) Ohlwine of Decatur, two sisters Evelyn Shellhouse of Polo, and Alma Bowser of Freeport, one brother Orlan (Beverly) Ohlwine of Polo, six grandchildren Ora (21), Elijah (18), Seriah (15), Josiah (13), Sylvia (11), and Amanda (13), and one great granddaughter Saya Ohlwine (2).
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 10:00 – 10:45 A.M., Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Milledgeville. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 A.M. at the church with Reverend Christine Stinstra officiating. A private burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling with full military honors on Monday, September 30, 2013.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Dixon Healthcare and Serenity Hospice for all their love and compassion.
