Murrell L. Bass, age 87, died Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. Murrell was born on November 17, 1934 in Centralia the son of Archie and Opal (Case) Bass. He married Joyce Van Horn May 8, 1953 in Rock Falls. She preceded him in death on June 4, 2012. Murrell was employed as a Wire Drawer with Parrish Alford in Rock Falls for over 40 years retiring in 1990. He enjoyed mowing, fishing, camping and gardening. Murrell also volunteered at the Caring Center in Sterling for many years.

Survivors include, one son, Kevin Bass of Sterling; one sister, Beverly Schrader of Park Rapids, Minn.; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Cheryl Briggs; two brothers, Raymond and George Bass; two sisters, Linda Babb, and Marietta Simpson.

Visitation will be from 1:00 – 3:00 PM Sunday, January 9, 2022 at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Funeral service will be Monday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Dalmus Meeks officiating. Burial will follow at Coloma Township Cemetery, Rock Falls. A memorial has been established.
