Mary "Rita" (Long) Corrigan, 69, of Sterling passed away at Rock River Hospice & Home on April 27, 2019.
Rita was born February 3, 1950 in Pittsburgh, PA to Merle Robert & Mary Margaret (Hannigan) Long, Sr. She grew up in Monessen, PA until moving to Lexington, NC where her two children were born, then moving to Sterling, IL in 1993.

Rita enjoyed spending time with her family, crafts, cooking and baking, being a Red Hat Society member, but most of all being a grandmother.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Michael (Eliona) Corrigan and Kate Fudala, all of Sterling, IL; a brother Bob (Vicki) Long of Saddlebrooke, AZ; and two grandchildren, Gregory Corrigan and Ainsley Fudala. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Friday, May 3rd from 5-7pm at the McDonald Funeral Home in Sterling. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, May 4th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sterling. Private burial of the cremains will take place at a later date. In Lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her memory.
