Mary "Joyce" Franklin, 66 of Polo, died Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling.

Joyce was born on January 2, 1952 in Evansville, IN, the daughter of Charles and Mary Jane (Lynch) Williams. She graduated from Mendota High School in 1970 then graduated from IVCC in 1972 from the Nursing Program. She worked for 34 years as a Registered Nurse in the OB department at Mendota Community Hospital and then CGH Medical Center in Sterling on the surgical floor where she retired in 2015. Joyce always cherished the women she worked with. She enjoyed painting and traveling but most of all, Joyce loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Tony Franklin of Mendota and Andrew Franklin of Polo; one daughter, Krista (Matt) Blum of Polo; five grandchildren, Kyle, Kayla and Molly Blum, Brandon Franklin and Elana Franklin; two sisters, Judy Schell and Janet (Greg) Thomas; three brothers, Jim (Linda) Williams, David (Mary) Williams and Mark Williams and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her niece, Amanda Williams.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. -12:00 P.M. at the McDonald Funeral Home in Sterling, 505 1st Avenue. Memorial service will follow at noon at the funeral home with Reverend Christina Berry officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Rock River Hospice and Home.
