Marvin J. Alt, age 88, of Rock Falls, died Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at his home.
Family and friends mourn the passing of Marvin J. Alt. The world has lost an extraordinary man. His caring and unselfish nature will be missed by all. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
Marvin was born on October 18, 1930 the eldest son of John and Evelyn (Bachman) Alt. In his younger years, he was an excellent hunter and a bit of a fun lover but settled down when he met and married Jean DeGroot on May 28, 1956. They moved to Illinois to pursue job opportunities as he was an excellent mechanic. He worked at Northwestern Steel and Wire for 30 years retiring in 1992. He loved fishing and boating. Many a weekend was spent on the Rock River just enjoying life.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean; his daughters, Debby (Dennis) Davila and Pam Filippi both of Sterling; grandchildren, Tiffany and Ryan Martinez, Danica Campos, and Jonathan Davila; great grandchildren, Cain and Jade Fullmer, Isabel, Ahrianna Martinez, and Maddux and Macy Campos; his brother, Art (Marge) Alt of Minneapolis, Minn.; his sister, Donnie Scott of Watertown, S.D.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dean; and his sisters, Irene, Bonnie and Joanne.
Per Marvin's wishes, there are no services. Cremation rites have been accorded.
A memorial has been established.
