Martha Marie Heffelfinger, 87, of Sterling, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at her home. Martha was born on May 4, 1933 in New Bern, NC, the daughter of Mayhugh and Hollon (Caton) Scott. She married Terrence Heffelfinger on December 27, 1991 in Dillon, SC. He predeceased her on November 11, 2020. Martha loved plants, and with her "green thumb" she could grow anything. She also enjoyed crafting, crocheting, and cooking. Martha never met a stranger.

Survivors include two daughters, Vicky Ward of Granstboro, NC, and Donna (John) Vasquez of Sterling; two sons, Gary Johnson of Grantsboro, NC, and Dahn Heffelbower of Leander, TX; two stepdaughters, Cindy (Bryan) Peck of Byron, and Kelly (Marty) Schaefer of Rock Falls; one step-son, Darin (Dawn) Heffelfinger or Rock Falls; seven grandchildren, Cory (Shannon) Johnson of Beaufort, SC, Krista (Tim) Morthlund of Rock Falls, Jamie (Christina) Johnson of Gloucester, VA, Michael Avery, Angel Skaggs, Amanda (Heather) Davis of Pamlico County, NC, and Charles Tharp of Goldsboro, NC; great-grandson, Logan Price; and several great-grandchildren.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband Terrence; one son, Henry Mack Johnson III; one daughter, Brenda Avery; three brothers, Mayhugh Earl Scott, Ernest Lee Scott, and William Perry Scott; and two infant sisters.

Cremation rites will be accorded. No services will be held.
