Marilyn Ann White, age 80 of Sterling, died Saturday, April 2, 2016 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Marilyn was born on August 21, 1935 in Tampico, the daughter of Ellison R. and Anna K. (Klockenga) Hook. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1953. On March 7, 1954, Marilyn married James R. White in Sterling, at her mother's home; they shared 62 wonderful years together. Marilyn enjoyed antiquing and crafting. She was a member of "The Golden Girls" with three other women, Claudia Wassman, Helen Holloway and Jan Perry and she remained very active with her graduating class. Marilyn was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Sterling.

Survivors include her husband, James R. White, Sr of Sterling; one daughter, Debra Ann Hopes of Sterling; three sons, James R. (Stephen) White, Jr. of Cape Coral, FL, Michael R. (Lynda) White of Corydon, IN and Chris (Gina) White of Rock Falls; one sister,, Elsie (Bud) Iben of Sterling; one brother, Donald (Delores) Hook of Mountain Home, AR; eight grandchildren, Jessica Bell, Marjorie Lee, Donald Lee, Kelly Shawler, Lori Wilson, Danielle Wolff, Amanda White and Brandon White and twelve great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 5, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Wesley United Methodist Church in Sterling. Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Wesley Dickson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church.
