Margaret "Maggie" R. Mullen, 74 of Savanna, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Big Meadows in Savanna.

Maggie was born on March 29, 1941 in Seattle, Washington to John and Virginia Scott. She married James A. Mullen on April 21, 1983 in Clinton, Iowa.

Maggie worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at several nursing facilities in her younger years; she was a very caring person who loved animals, especially her beloved dogs, Sheba, Cajun and Cherokee. Maggie loved going to yard sales and thrift shops. She had a knack for decorating/rearranging her home and apartment, they were always neat as a pin and full of her little touches. She loved to be outdoors as much as possible, the Mississippi was a big part of her and Jim's life when they were in the Savanna area; camping and fishing with their dogs. When Jim passed away in 2007, Maggie moved into her apartment at Mest Manor in Savanna, where she lived for almost 9 years.

Maggie met and shared love with Michael Remrey, they had several very happy years together. They enjoyed gardening, cooking together, and just driving wherever the road took them; Maggie helped care for Michael until his death.

Maggie was a force to be reckoned with, she was a small woman, but had a big personality. She prided herself on her independence – she had a wicked sense of humor almost to the end. She never looked her age, loved to change her hair, loved nail polish and makeup, always seemed about 20 years younger than she really was. She loved life, even though she had dealt with health struggles and had suffered many losses.

Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Virginia; Jim and Michael.

She is survived by her Mother in Law, Carolyn Lancaster, her sister in law, Kathy (Larry) Williams, all of Mount Carroll; brothers in law, Jon (Donna) Mullen of Oshkosh, Wis. and Bill Mullen of Appleton, Wis. as well as her nieces and nephews, Alicia (Matt) Christensen of Waukesha, Wis., Julie (Jerod) Felix of Ripon, Wis., Rachael (Dave) Magnuson, and Dan Mullen, all of Oshkosh, Wis., Ryan and Evan Williams of Mount Carroll.

Arrangements will be made for a memorial at a later date.
