COLETA – Lynda F. Smith, age 71, died Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Mercy Rockford Memorial Hospital, Rockford.
Lynda was born on July 8, 1946 in Stockton, Calif. the daughter of Robert L and Faye (Newton) Webb. She married Harold Smith on June 17, 1967 in Coleta. She did office work in various local churches before retirement. Lynda was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Sterling where she taught Sunday School for many years. She also volunteered at CGH Medical Center with the Auxiliary.
Survivors include, her husband, Harold Smith of Coleta; two daughters, Heidi (John) Hoffman of DeLand, Fla. and Heather Smith of Sterling; two sons, Michael (Janet) Smith of Peoria and David (Jennifer) Smith of Coleta; two sisters, Donna (David) Zimmerman of Coleta and Roberta (Dan) Witmer of Sterling; two brothers, Larry (Donna) Webb of San Diego, Calif. and Jimmy Webb of Sterling; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the McDonald Funeral Home, Sterling. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday at Faith Baptist Church, Sterling with Reverend Bryan Bice officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
