Lovie Mae (Palsgrove) Hughes
The Hughes family announces the passing of Lovie M Hughes, 89, of Sterling died Monday February 19, 2018 in her home. She was born August 13th 1928 in Columbus, Kentucky, the daughter of Jake and Nellie (McDonald) Palsgrove. She married Everett S. Hughes in Oceola, Arkansas on August 23, 1945; Everett passed in 2004.
She worked at Northwestern Steel & Wire for 10 years and 29 years at G.E.
She was a member of First Open Bible Church, RockFalls. She loved to fish, bowl, attend Cardinal games in St. Louis, gardening, and time with family and friends especially her favorite holiday, Christmas. She enjoyed spending time with her companion and Super Dog, Misty.
She is survived by daughter, Jan (Ric) Cupp of Pensacola, Flordia,; three sons, Everett (Kathy) Hughes Jr. of Morrison, Deron Joe (Melanie) Hughes of RockFalls, Ron Hughes of Sterling, sister in laws, Katherine, Mary and Pat, Chris (Dick) Devers that was like a daughter to Lovie. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, grandchildren, Ronnie Hughes, Jr., Lacy Renner, Brooke Jordan, Ryan White, Ryan Gladhill and AJ Lopez; and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters Virgnia (Ginger) and Helen.
We are so incredibly grateful to her wonderful doctors, Dr. Susan Provo that became not just a doctor but a true friend. Jennifer Garriott and the nurses at Dr. Provo's office especially Connie who always hit the mark when drawing blood. Thank you to all the nurses on the third floor of CGH for the special care over the years and making her stays like home. Her heart doctors Dr. Kurion and Dr. Robken nurses, staff in Davenport, Iowa that allowed our mom to have a quality of life and pain free for the remainder of her time on this earth. Special thank you to the Rock River Hospice and Home for the care and help to Brooke her granddaughter so she could be at home for her passing. Lovie was an unforgettable person that never met a stranger and if you asked our Dad whom she is speaking to right now he would comment I have no clue and either does she.
