Lila Esther Marie (Lang) Gomsrud, 93, of Sterling, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at her home.

She was born on February 17, 1924 in Milwaukee, Wisc. She was the daughter of David and Lydia (Pinnow) Lang. She married Robert S. Gomsrud on July 20, 1946 at St. Marcus Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on November 22, 2017. They enjoyed 71 years together.

Lila attended Milwaukee Public Schools. She pursued a career in accounting and worked at various companies/businesses in Milwaukee. She also worked at the Pope County Tribune in Glenwood, Minnesota, and J.C. Penney in Sterling, Illinois.

Lila was a girl scout leader, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at CGH Medical Center, and active in the Republican Women's group. She enjoyed her Bible study groups at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sterling and Glenwood Lutheran Church in Ruskin, Florida. Lila enjoyed teaching Sunday School at St. Paul and Calvary Lutheran Churches. She also enjoyed swimming at the YMCA, gardening and riding her bicycle. Both Lila and Bob enjoyed Florida during the winter season for over 20 years.

Lila was recognized for her famous cream puffs and organization of Superintendent's and staff Christmas parties. Lila loved her family and was so proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter Ann (Loren) Beswick of Sterling; three grandchildren, Andy (Anna) Beswick of Coal Valley, and their children, Ava, Eli, Dax and one due in July; Kjerstin (Corbin) Milbrath of Iowa City, Iowa; Sarah Beswick of Sterling; a brother, David (Louise) Lang of Oconomowoc, Wisc., and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert and a son Theodore David Gomsrud; her parents; her brothers Clarey and Carl Lang; and a sister in law Ruth.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sterling with Pastor Brandon Nelson, officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow the service at the church with a luncheon to be served. Burial will be at a later time at Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea, Minnesota. A memorial has been established to St. Paul Lutheran Church in her memory.
