Leta Milby, 92 of Rock Falls died Thursday February 17, 2022 at the Rock River Hospice & Home.

She was born on February 24, 1929 in Farmington, IL the daughter of Leonard O. (Minnie V. (Fulton) Skaggs. Leta graduated from Rock Falls High School in 1947. She married Elmer Milby on December 24, 1947 in Rock Falls. He died October 10, 2015 and had been married 68 years. She had worked as a cashier at three theaters: The Strand in Rock Falls; Sterling Theater and the State Theater; she had also worked at Peerless Level in Sterling; Illinois Bell Telephone in Sterling; Franklin Life Insurance in Springfield, IL; for Sundstrand in Rockford; owned and operated the Deep Rock and Apco Service stations in Rockford with her late husband; and had worked 7 years at J C Penny in Sterling. She was an avid NASCAR (every weekend during racing season, this was her thing) and a St. Louis Cardinals fan. Leta enjoyed being with her family; keeping up on family history, taking pictures (this is her legacy to her children); crocheting, watching eagles, reading books, working puzzles, playing solitaire on her computer.

Survivors include her daughter, Connie Carter of Rock Falls; daughter in law Kathleen Milby of Rock Falls; sister in law Joyce (Earl) Devers of Rock falls; a self-adopted son Larry Park of Rockford; grandchildren: Edwin Anderson of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Amber (Phillip) Peugh of Rock Falls, Angela (Patrick) Dunagan of Pekin, IL, Vicente Menchaca (Bonnie Novia) of Rock Falls, Mariel (Kody) Kester of Rock Falls; 19 great grandchildren: Javes, Amya, Mariah, Jerry, Shawn, Danielle, Alannah, Donavan, Christian, Antionette, Alyse, Kallin, Kayson, Derik, Oscar, Priscilla, Hendrix, Kayson, Tayson; one great great grandson Nash.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer; her son William "Bill"; her parents Leonard and Minnie Skaggs; her grandparents: David and Lucy Milby Skaggs, John and Margaret Fulton; her brother Clyde Skaggs; two sisters: Verble Lindsey and Viola Schultz; granddaughter Brianna Menchaca and great granddaughter Brealynn Aurora Menchaca.

Visitation will be Thursday February 24, 2022 from 4-5:30 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory in Rock Falls followed by a brief service at 5:30 PM with the Reverend Roger Carlson officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Rock Falls Fire Department Foundation and Rock River Hospice and Home.
