Leona "Lee" Laemmel, 85, of Sterling, died on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Lee was born on December 28, 1931 in Broadhead, Wisc. the daughter of Emil and Mary Louise (Kern) Bosshart. She married Walter "Buck" Laemmel on December 14, 1951 in Amboy. He preceded her in death on April 14, 2006.

Lee worked at K-Mart for several years. She loved to crochet, bake, garden and most of all spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Bill) Searing of Sterling; a grandson Cullen (Melissa) Searing of Franklin Grove; a granddaughter Katie (Adam) Gierhart of Peoria; six great grandchildren; four sisters, Gladys Fish of Warren, Mich., Mary Pochert of Milwaukee, Wisc., Mildred O'Rorke of Dixon and Shirley Greene of Pecatonica.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Lester, Herbert, Garnet and Richard Bosshart; and one sister Virginia Freske.

Visitation will be from 4-6 PM with the funeral at 6 PM at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Pastor Jason Borton will officiate.

Private burial will be on Tuesday at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling. A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Rock River Valley in her memory.
