Laura Mae North, 74, a longtime resident of Sterling, IL went home to be with the Lord Thursday, June 15, 2017.

She was born January 16, 1943 to Cecil and Jane (Bitner) North and raised in Youngstown, Ohio before moving to Cleveland where she worked for State Farm Insurance for many years.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers Cecil (Joe), George and a sister Florence. She is survived by many nieces and nephews across the country. Laura will be greatly missed by her many dear friends, neighbors, relatives and virtual following of friends as well.

Laura's joyful humble and caring spirit was expressed through her involvement in church and community activities over the years. Most recently she volunteered and supported Good Neighbors of Sterling, Moses' Basket a ministry of Dekalb Wesleyan Church, and volunteered with Rock River Christian Center Food Ministry program in her community.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, June 23 at 10 AM at Rock River Christian Center, 1800 Prophet Road in Rock Falls. A private inurnment will take place in Boardman, Ohio at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Monetary donations can be made in her name to the two above mentioned ministries that were dear to her heart.
