Larry A. Horner, Sr., 76 of Sterling, died Thursday, November 16, 2017 at his home.

Larry was born on November 21, 1940 in Freeport, the son of LaVerne E. and Lorraine Celeta (Hopkins) Horner. He grew up in Nelson and graduated from Rock Falls High School in 1959. Larry served in the US Army three years in Germany. He married Margo A. Paschal on August 17, 1963 in Rock Falls. Larry was employed by National MFG for 41 years. He worked as a punch press operator and retired in 2000. He enjoyed CB radios and was an avid Ham radio operator since 1985. Larry was a Chicago Bears, Bulls and Cubs fan and enjoyed following Sterling High School's Football team this year.

He is survived by his wife, Margo; two daughters, Tammy Nestor of Sterling and Tresa (Mike) Mackey of Sterling; one son, Larry (Kari) Horner, Jr. of Sterling and four grandchildren, Brady Horner, Nyle Nestor, Christopher Mackey and Tanner Mackey.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Gene Horner, Dick Horner and infant brother Roger Horner.

At his request, there will be a private family service. A memorial will be established in his memory.

Cremation rites have been accorded with the McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory in Rock Falls.
