L. Robert "Bob" Wilson, 82 of Rock Falls died Wednesday April 19, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on January 12, 1935 in Dixon the son of Pearl Irene Wilson. He married Ann (Schneider) Smith on September 10, 1983 in Las Vegas, NV. Bob had worked for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad and later for Union Pacific Railroad retiring after 38 years of service. He had served as a past volunteer fireman for the city of Elburn, IL. Bob enjoyed summer months along the Rock River with family, friends and neighbors where he had fished and boated. He had served his country as a proud US Marine.
Survivors include his wife, Ann; six daughters: Kim Wilson, Peggy Palmer, Barbara (Roger) Seldal, Julie Clark all of Dekalb, IL, Lisa Wilson of Austin, TX and Ellen Wilson of Round Rock, TX; Step children: Todd (Nancy) Smith of Genoa, IL, and Sharon Smith of Belvidere, IL; 6 grandchildren: Josh (Sarah), Jacob, and Leslie Seldal, Jeremy Wilson, Rob and Troy Clark all of Dekalb; 2 step grandchildren: Steven Smith of Hampshire, IL and Daniel Smith of Elgin, IL; 3 great grandchildren: Jordan Wilson, Mia and Bree Seldal.
Visitation will be held on Saturday April 22, 2017 from 9-11 AM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 505 1st Avenue in Sterling. The funeral will follow at 11 AM at the funeral home with the Reverend Michael Hodge, pastor of Grace Free Lutheran Church in Dekalb officiating. Burial with military honors will conclude at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.
