Katherine M. Butcher, 83, of West Des Moines, IA, formerly of Rock Falls, IL, died Monday, December 4, 2017, at the St. Luke's North Hospital, Kansas City, MO.

Katherine was born September 27, 1934, in Stuttgart, AR; the daughter of Wesley and Elizabeth (Beggs) Paige. She married Howard L. "Butch" Butcher on December 24, 1957, in Sterling, IL; he preceded her in death on July 21, 2011. Prior to her marriage she worked at General Electric in Morrison, IL. She is a former member of the 16th Avenue Church of Christ, Sterling, IL. Prior to moving to West Des Moines she was an avid bowler for the women's league at Blackhawk Lanes, Sterling, IL. She adored nature and its wondrous beauty. She has a talented green thumb, enjoyed gardening and brought out all the natural beauty in everything she touched. She was an avid fisherman and often out fished us all. She was simply thrilled and laughed hysterically each time she caught a Fish. Mom was never selfish, always very passionate about helping others; always stepped up to defend her beliefs in her family and God. She always objectively brought forth suggestions and offered her assistance if it could make someone else a better person. (Reap what you sow) She's also a loving, caring and awesome, Mom and Nana. Here love is and will always be totally unconditional. She loves all of us with her full heart and soul.

Survivors include one daughter, Denise R. (Jim) Manon of West Des Moines, IA; two sons, Daryl W. Butcher of West Des Moines, IA and James Estel Cash of Smarr, GA; one step daughter, Gretchen (Lyle) Bush of Morrison, IL; one step son, Greg (Wanda) Butcher of Belle Aire, FL; 8 grandchildren: 13 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Dean (Troy) Mitchell of Stuttgart, AR and Shirley (B.R.)
