Josephine A. "Jo" Gaskill, 66, of Tampico, died on Wednesday morning, August 29, 2018 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Jo was born on October 19, 1951 in Sterling to John H. and Mellie A. (Clark) Cumby. She was united in marriage to Dennis Gaskill on September 18, 1971 in Tampico. Jo retired from National Manufacturing Company in 2007 after 30 years of service.

She graduated from the Sterling School of Beauty and was a hairdresser for many years. Jo loved to play horseshoes and also loved golfing. The most precious love of her life is her granddaughter, Sara Reilly Gaskill.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Dennis Gaskill, of Tampico; her son, Ryan H. Gaskill (Rachel Hunt) of Rock Falls; her granddaughter, Sara Gaskill of Erie; her mothers, Mellie Crowe of Rock Falls and Linda M. Cumby of Tampico; her sisters, Vickie (Dennis) Huffman of Rock Falls, Pamela (Ed) Davis of Tampico and Tammy (Mark) Naftzger of Deland, Fla.; a brother Steven R. Cumby of Tampico; 2 brothers-in-law, Terry (Lorraine) Gaskill of Tampico and Rick (Rhonda) Gaskill of Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father John H. Cumby, a brother John Cumby, Jr., a sister, Macie Thomas and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 10-11 AM at First Open Bible Church in Rock Falls. A memorial service will follow at 11 AM at the church with Pastor Les Funderburg, officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church. A memorial has been established in her memory.
