Joseph A. Garcia, 59 of Sterling died Saturday March 10, 2018 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

He was born on May 4, 1958 in Sterling, the son of Salvador and Delores (Seidel) Garcia. He attended St. Mary Grade School and was a 1976 graduate of Sterling High School. Joe married Denise Francque on July 15, 1995 in Sterling. He was employed for 25 years at the Dixon Correctional Center as a Maintenance Craftsman and then for the past 5 years he had worked for DD Homes in Sterling. Joe was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He was a huge Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed NASCAR racing. Joe loved life to the fullest. Some of his favorite passions were being outdoors, especially snowmobiling and boating, with his family and friends. And of course mowing his yard. Joe cherished his bond with his family, and with his friends, whom he always considered his extended family.
Survivors include his wife, Denise; his two children: Lacy Garcia Cole and Anthony J. Garcia; his two grandchildren: Brooke and Brayden Cole; his sisters: Barbara Tretteen, Josie (Tom) Gascoigne, Carol (Craig) Stumpf, and Elizabeth (Denis) Perret; his brothers: Michael (Sue) Garcia and Robert Garcia; his mother and father in law: Jan and Bev Francque; his sister in laws: Michelle Burns (John French), and Danielle (Mike) Lahey; his brother in laws: Todd (Melissa) Francque and Ben Francque; his crazy dog "MAXX"; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

All those attending the visitation are encouraged to wear Green Bay Packer attire. The visitation will be held on Thursday March 15, 2018 from 4-7 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue in Rock Falls with the Rosary being recited at 3:30 PM. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday at 10:30 AM in St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling with the Reverend James R. Keenan, Celebrant officiating. Burial will conclude at Calvary Cemetery, Sterling.

In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
