John "Bob" Atilano, 65, of Rock Falls, passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017.

Bob was born April 14, 1952, in Savanna, the son of John and Anne Atilano. He graduated in 1970 from Newman High School. On April 15, 1972, he married Joan Johnson.

He then began working at Northwestern Steel & Wire, P.A. plant for
25 years. In the 1980s, Bob started his construction business, Atilano Home Improvement, and enjoyed his many projects, and especially his customers.

Bob's greatest pride was his family; he loved the many vacations spent with them, and watching his grandchildren at their sporting events. Bob would always try to find time to play a round of golf with friends, often saying, "This is the year I'm going to play a lot."

During his year-long battle with acute myeloid leukemia, Bob never gave up and fought bravely. In honor of Bob, consider giving blood and platelets to your local Red Cross, or make a financial donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in his honor.

Bob will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Joan; his daughter, Kimberly (Mark) Morris of Dunlap; his son, Matthew (Adeena) Atilano of San Clemente, California; his four grandchildren, Natalie and Jack Morris, and Jason and Jesse Atilano; his mother, Anne Atilano of Sterling; his sister, Margie (Gilbert) Madrigal of Olathe, Kansas; and his brothers, Art (Jan) Atilano of Dixon and Gary Atilano of Sterling.

He was preceded in death by his father, John.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls, with the Rev. Richard Russo, celebrant officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling.
