John Alan VanKampen, age 71 of Fulton, died Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton.

John was born on December 9, 1944; the son of Roy and Marie (Gretencord) VanKampen. He was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer for 36 years before retirement. John was a United States Air Force Veteran. He had a love for cars and enjoyed being outdoors, playing pool and euchre. John loved spending time with his family and adored his grandchildren, Brayden and Gracie.

Survivors include one daughter, Aimi VanKampen of Tennessee; three sons, Terry VanKampen of Tennessee, Tadd (Mindy) VanKampen of Fulton and Rick VanKampen of Fulton; four brothers, Gary (Bernadine) VanKampen, LeRoy VanKampen, Loren (Sue) VanKampen and Roger (Sally) VanKampen all of Fulton; two grandchildren and one grandchild on the way.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be Monday, December 28, 2015 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the McDonald Funeral Home in Fulton, 1601 16th Avenue. Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Philip Stel officiating. Burial will follow at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
