PROPHETSTOWN – Joan M. Poerstel, 85, died Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown.
Joan was born July 8, 1933, in Cicero, the daughter of Frank S. and Lillian E. (Markowski) Peters. She married William H. Poerstel on Oct. 19, 1957, in Cicero. He died on March 29, 2013.
Joan was a homemaker and member of St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church in Prophetstown.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary (John) Sherrick of McFarland, Wis., Patti (Kevin) Beese of Glen Ellyn, Nancy Satterfield of Madison, Ala. and Julie (Lorenzo) Hall of Montgomery; a son, Bill (Michelle) Poerstel of Fort Worth, Texas.; a sister, Grace Francl of Lombard; 12 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Along with her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents and brother.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018, at the McDonald Funeral Home in Prophetstown, with a rosary recited at 3:30 p.m. A Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church in Prophetstown, with the Rev. Antoni Kretowicz officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown.
