Jean S. Galloway, 84 of Sterling, died Tuesday, January 02, 2018 at Sterling Pavilion Nursing Home.

Jean was born on September 27, 1933 in Sterling, the daughter of Robert and Ruth (Frye) Sonneman. She married James Galloway on June 6, 1953 at the First Christian Church in Sterling; he preceded her in death on May 24, 2009. Jean was a homemaker and a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Sterling. She was very active in the church, serving as an Elder and Sunday school teacher for many years and a member of the church circle. Jean enjoyed knitting, reading, and playing bridge and pinochle.

She is survived by her three daughters, Ann (Joe) Conway of Sterling, Susan (Scott) Uknes of Apec, NC and Patricia Hurley and Brian Hurley of Sterling; her son, Barry (Gina) Galloway of Hilton, NY; six grandchildren, Haley Meekma, Hannah Moore, Jim Galloway, Melissa Hurley, Ryan Hurley and Kelly Galloway; one great grandchild, Caleb Meekma; and two brothers, Warren Sonneman of FL and Ronald Sonneman of MI.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and two grandchildren, Alison and Michael Hurley.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at the First Christian Church in Sterling. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. at the church with Reverend Tanya Tyler officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church in Sterling.
