ROCK FALLS - James "Jim" N. Kulas, 86, died Friday, December 20, 2019. He was born on March, 25 1933 in Stephen, Minnesota, the son of Bazil and Frances (Longowski) Kulas. Jim married Karen Barnhart on September 30, 1960 at St. Andrew Catholic Church. He served in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Jim worked at Sterling Steel Ball for 40 years. He enjoyed polka dancing, as well as walking, sometimes even 10 miles a day!
Survivors include his former wife Karen; two daughters, Kim Ottenhausen of Pearl City, IL and Kelly (Brian) Starkweather of Milan, IL; one son, Nick Kulas of Key Largo, FL; one sister, Sarah Parker of California; ten grandchildren, Nicholas Kulas, Nicole (Tony) Hull, Branden Kulas, Mitchell Ottenhausen, Perri (Andy) Wilson, Drew Ottenhausen, Barry Ottenhausen, Paige Miller, Jamie Beal, and Dylan Beal; ten great grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and eight brothers.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls. Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Richard Russo officiating.
