Jack Donald Koehler, age 88, passed away at Regency Care Center in Sterling, IL on December 29, 2019. Jack was born on October 10, 1931, to Adam and Helen (Hicks) Koehler and was raised in Sublette, IL. After graduation from Amboy High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and joined the Seabees construction battalion where he served in Newport, RI, Newfoundland, Cuba, and Morocco from 1951-1955. He studied electrical wiring at Sauk Valley Community College.

Jack married Carol (Full) Koehler on July 13, 1957 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Amboy, IL. He was a loving father to three children, Kimberly (Rob-ert) Freitag, Elgin, IL; Trish (Thomas) Senneff, Sterling, IL; and Kristopher Koehler, Chaska, MN; and grandfather to Caroline (Rafael Bras) Freitag, Evanston, IL.

Jack worked as a sales representative for many years for the Heckman Bindery Company, Fort Wayne, IN. He was next employed at Northwestern Steel and Wire Company of Sterling, retiring as a West Plant electrician after 25 years. Up-on retirement, Jack volunteered with maintenance tasks at his home parish, Sacred Heart Church, and with St. Vincent DePaul Society. He enjoyed spending time with his family, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, working on home improvement projects, reading about WWII, traveling, and playing euchre.

Jack was predeceased by his parents; Carol, his loving wife of 60 years; siblings, Merle "Bud" Koehler, Arlene Lewis, Betty Somak, and Jean Joerger. He is sur-vived by his children; granddaughter; sister, Janette Ackerman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A gathering of friends and family will take place Friday January 3, 2020 from 9 – 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sterling. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM in the church with the Reverend Richard R. Kramer, Celebrating. Burial will conclude at Calvary Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been made by McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sacred Heart Church, St. Mary's School, or Newman Central Catholic High School in Sterling, IL.
