Ingeborg "Inga" Hannlore Haarmeyer Teachout, age 86 of Sterling, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Sterling Pavilion Nursing Home.

Inga was born on January 28, 1930 in Berlin, Germany, the daughter of Heinrich and Emilie (Johannesmeyer) Haarmeyer. She married Lester Teachout on November 26, 1954 at Centennial United Methodist Church in Rockford.

Inga came to the United States in 1953 and lived most of her life in Rockford. She spent several years in Hannover, Germany from 1976-2000. She retired in Sterling in 2000 to be close to her family. Inga enjoyed knitting and reading and was a member of the Roundtuits Group. She loved to knit hats and would often donate them to area schools and Hospice. Inga was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Kim (James) Hegner of Sterling; son, Sam Teachout of Tustin, CA and two grandsons, Theodore 'Ted' Hegner and Matthew Teachout.

She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.

At Inga's request, cremation rites have been accorded with the McDonald Funeral Home and a memorial mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church is pending.
