Helen Marie Hinz Sanders, 88, of Rock Falls, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Helen was born on August 7, 1929 in Charlotte, Iowa the daughter of William and Hulda Hinz.

She married the late Sedrick M. Sanders on September 3, 1949. He died on January 23, 2003.

Helen enjoyed playing the violin, cooking, and reading. She was active in spending time with her family and friends, and her special friend of many years, Eileen Linton. Helen touched the lives of everyone she met and will always be remembered for her kind personality. Helen was an active member of the Sauk Valley Seventh Day Adventist Church in Dixon. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxillary, and the Christian Women's Club.

She is survived by her two daughters, Laurie Quigley of Rock Falls and Leatrice Sanders of Rock Falls; a brother, The Reverend Tom Hinz of Wisconsin; her grandchildren, Lt. Col. Megan (Terry) Riley of Colorado, Michael (Nicole) Harper of Ohio, and Eric Quigley of Chicago; her great grandchildren, Zachary Naymik and Allison Harper.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Lydia Harper, 2 sisters, Rebecca Glenn and Anita Stralow; 2 brothers, Donald Hinz and Emil Hinz; a great grandson Brandon Naymik and a son-in-law Harry Harper.

Visitation will be on Sunday, April 22 from 12-1 PM at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. The funeral will be at 1 PM at the funeral home with Pastor John Lewis officiating. Private burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.

Memorials in her memory may be directed to the Radio Ministry of the Sauk Valley Seventh Day Adventist Church.
