STERLING – Harold W. Michler, 94 of Sterling died Saturday July 29, 2017 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.
He was born on July 22, 1923 in Little Black, WI the son of Walter Carl and Elsie Ida (Neese) Michler. He served in the US Navy during WW II. He married Dorothy L. Etter on December 21, 1946 in Chicago. She died December 23, 1998. Harold began his long and successful 40 plus year career at IMECO as a draftsman, later as an engineer , Vice President and then President of the company in Polo, before his retirement in 1986. Harold was a faithful and active member of the 1st Congregational Church – UCC of Rock Falls. His many hobbies included woodworking, carving, photography, as a game player, disc golf, camping, traveling and dancing. He had served earlier in life as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader. Harold held family and family time as a priority.
Survivors include his Covenant partner, Helen Wright; his daughters: Diane (Ronald) Knoener of Plymouth, WI and Donna (J. Darrell) Wargo of Urbana, IL; his son, Howard (Vicki) Michler of Dixon, IL; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his gran daughter and two brothers.
Visitation will be held on Saturday August 5, 2017 from 9:30 – 11:30 AM at the 1st Congregational – UCC in Rock Falls. The funeral will follow at 11:30 AM in the church with the Reverend Al Campbell officiating. Military honors will follow outside of the church. Private family burial will take place on Monday at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Hillside, IL.
